Legal Administrative Specialist

For the GS13: you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service (obtained in either private or public sector) which must include:

1. interpreting and applying Federal retirement laws, regulations, principles, practices, and procedures, and making retirement determinations involving complex cases;
2. analyzing operational effects of changes in law or regulations and developing guidance material;
3. interpreting and explaining retirement and insurance benefit programs administered by other Federal agencies as they relate to Federal employee benefit systems;
4. serving as an advisor on the Federal benefits system, regulations, and other personnel provisions applicable to retirement and insurance.

Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS 13 level.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
