Seeking a Sr. Test Development Engineer for an exciting opportunity with the MMIC Design Center organization under CAES Defense Systems, located in either our Richardson, TX or Forsyth, MO locations! The MMIC Design Center is comprised of a team of 20+ MMIC and Packaging Designers creating advanced RF solutions for internal and external customers. The Center has PMO, test and test support engineering to convert designs into delivered products as well as systems expertise to support customer architectures and trade studies also enabling CAES capabilities at board and sub-array levels. Analyze test requirements for Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMIC) and develop automated test equipment (ATE) capable of satisfying customer's requirements; create test plans, acceptance test procedures; identify gaps in on-wafer test measurement methods & techiques, develop test capability roadmaps and lead in these initiatives though planning, coordinating, scheduling and equipment design, selection and fabrication; Perform database administrative tasks, Perform set-up, calibration, test and troubleshooting of RF assemblies with minimal supervision; design test fixture assemblies, generate and adhere to detailed design verification test plans; prepare technical reports summarizing findings to technical problems; perform complex troubleshooting and failure analysis testing of MMICs; perform product qualification tests and/or environmental stress testing of packaged products; assist with managing lab assets, significant amount of work is performed under microscopes.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer specifications to identify unique and routine test requirements.
  • Analyze customer specifications to identify test requirements and test configurations
  • Define test equipment, test fixtures, software/hardware requirements in the acceptance test procedure.
  • Develop test plans, test equipment configurations, and software interfaces required for testing
  • Develop software programs for ATE for MMIC testing
  • Perform database maintenance and administrative tasks on the MMIC test database
  • Perform RF characterization on power amplifiers, low-noise amplifiers, and signal control MMICs
  • Set-up test equipment and perform s-parameters, output power, noise figure, and two-tone measurements of MMIC products using necessary calibration standards.
  • Perform on-wafer probe testing and assist in the design and assembly of RF test fixture and PCB designs
  • Troubleshoot complex RF circuits with minimal supervision
  • Perform critical thinking and have excellent troubleshooting / diagnostic skills relative to RF microwave fundamentals and theory
  • Perform statistical analysis and write technical summary reports
  • Ability to perform tasks without supervision and minimal inputs
  • Obtain quotes from vendors, lead procurement, and assist with inventory as needed
  • Manage laboratory assets and track equipment calibration as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field or equivalent education and experience.
  • 5+ yrs RF experience specific with ATE for RF/Microwave and components including the development and testing of components; experience in build rack & stack test equipment.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Experienced with developing ATE software and operation of wafer probe stations, Keysight vector network analyzers, digital multi-meters, signal generators, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, performing RF calibrations, and use of other microwave test equipment such as couplers, attenuators, loads, isolators, and bias networks.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical drawings.
  • Ability to work under a microscope viewing sub-micron geometries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electronics principles and theory.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
  • Motivated self-starter and with the ability to use independent judgment and work independently in an engineering environment.
  • Proficient in performing RF characterization of GaN/GaAs MMICs (s-parameters, large-signal measurements, two-tone tests and stability testing); experience with RF test through Ka-band.
  • Experience in PCB design and/or RF test fixtures.
  • Experience with DoD/military qualification test requirements.
  • Ability to wire bond MMIC assemblies to prepare for test.
  • Software programming skills with LabView, C, C++ and/or Visual Basic.
  • Experienced using CAD tools such as AutoCAD of Gerber Viewers.
  • Perform MMIC layout tasks associated with design submission to foundry.
  • Experience with MySQL Database administrative functions.

Salary Range: $84,000 - $110,000 annually (Richardson, TX).

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
