AWS is seeking an experienced Strategic Account Manager to lead and continue to expand the business with one of our company’s most innovative state government customers in New York.

Key job responsibilities

The Strategic Account Manager will be a key member of the team responsible for providing business leadership and creative direction for this highly visible customer base. You will build and maintain relationships in key accounts, develop and manage opportunities, and lead a large team of extended resources. You will define an executive relationship strategy within the account, including building a strong working relationship with the AWS senior leadership team for executive sponsorship, executive business reviews, and shaping go-to-market opportunities.

A day in the life
As an AWS Senior Account Manager supporting New York State, your day is fast-paced and impactful. You'll balance remote and on-site meetings with key government stakeholders, discussing critical IT initiatives like data migration and modernization. You'll collaborate with internal AWS teams on procurement strategies and solution designs. The role involves presenting to executives, managing technical discussions, and maintaining customer relationships. Your day includes pipeline management, follow-ups, and strategic planning. Success requires strong communication skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to navigate government procurement processes. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 7+ years of direct sales or business development in software, cloud or SaaS markets selling to C-level executives experience
- 10+ years of business development, partner development, sales or alliances management experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of building profitable partner ecosystems experience
- Experience developing detailed go to market plans
- Experience identifying, developing, negotiating, and closing large-scale technology deals
- Experience in direct sales or business development in software, cloud or SaaS markets selling to C-level executives
- Experience proactively growing customer relationships within an account while expanding their understanding of the customer's business
- Experience with New York or other state government contracting, specifically New York State OGS Lot 3 and Lot 4 Contracts

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. This position is eligible for variable pay via a sales compensation plan. These plans pay according to achievement level against sales targets and/or business objectives. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
