Description About the Position: The Supervisory Business Management Specialist reports to the Chief of Staff, overseeing the integration of programs affecting the District. Coordinate, lead, and manage assigned initiatives, applying technical and managerial expertise to analyze situations, identify issues, and determine actions. In order to qualify, you must meet the SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience to qualify at the GS-13 level: One year of specialized experience that includes: 1) Assigning tasks to subordinates based on priorities to meet work standards; 2) Setting goals to evaluate employee performance; 3) Providing guidance on work and administrative issues, including approving leave requests; 4) Interviewing candidates and recommending hiring, promotions, or reassignments; 5) Resolving employee complaints, advising on minor disciplinary matters, recommending actions for more serious issues, and referring critical cases to higher management; 6) Identifying training needs and arranging development opportunities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
