Job Title: Aircraft Prepper and Painter

Location: Philadelphia, PA, or Kingman, AZ 

Employment Type: 60 day contract with the potential opportunity to extend

Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Aircraft Painter and Prepper to join our team in Philadelphia. This role is crucial for ensuring the high-quality preparation, painting, and finishing of aircraft surfaces in our aviation production line. The successful candidate will be proficient in various tasks, including surface preparation, applying coatings, masking, and ensuring all work meets industry standards. Strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively within the team are essential for this role.

Job Description:

-Aircraft Surface Preparation and Painting: Skillfully prepare aircraft surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and masking for strip, including chemical stripping as necessary. Prepare composite surfaces for primer and topcoat, and metal surfaces for primer application. Perform acid etching and metal treatment on aircraft and parts to ensure proper adhesion of coatings.

-Masking and Seam Sealing: Mask areas for stripping and preparation, ensuring proper protection of surfaces not being worked on. Seal seams on aircraft and parts to prevent future corrosion and ensure a seamless finish.

-Priming and Top coating: Apply primer to aircraft and parts, ensuring an even, durable base for subsequent layers. Apply topcoats of paint with precision, ensuring a high-quality, long-lasting finish. Apply accent colors and aerospace specialty coatings as per specifications.

-Layout and Detailing: Manually pull lines and apply placarding, stencils, and layout markings as required for proper identification and compliance. Detailing the aircraft to ensure a pristine, professional finish that meets industry and customer standards.

-Finishing Touches: De-mask aircraft once paint and coating work is completed. Apply finishing sealants and non-slip materials to specific areas to enhance durability and safety.

-Documentation and Control: Maintain accurate records of all preparation, painting, and finishing activities, including materials used, surface conditions, and work performed. Ensure all parts, materials, and tools are accounted for, and verify parts requests to ensure smooth continuity and accuracy in production.

-Technical Proficiency: Read and interpret technical specifications, aircraft drawings, and coating manuals to determine the correct painting processes. Follow detailed work instructions to ensure the correct application of coatings and finishes, adhering to manufacturer and industry standards.

-Tool and Equipment Operation: Operate specialized aircraft painting equipment, including spray guns, air compressors, sanders, and masking tools. Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated to deliver a high-quality finish while minimizing risks such as overspray and contamination.

-Communication: Effectively communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and other necessary personnel to coordinate work activities and address any issues related to aircraft preparation or painting processes. Provide updates on the status of ongoing projects to ensure deadlines are met.

-Flexibility and Safety: Perform assigned duties across all shifts and work environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions and physical locations. Follow strict safety protocols and wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) to protect against exposure to chemicals, fumes, and other hazards inherent in aircraft painting.

Requirements/Licensing:

5 years aircraft painting experience required for all wages above $25/hr (Helicopter Experience preferred)
