Job Summary: The HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of human resources, including employee relations, labor law compliance, benefits administration, payroll support, and HRIS management for client companies. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of HR policies and procedures, the ability to set up and manage HRIS modules, and the capability to assist clients with HR-related inquiries. Regular travel to client sites and availability beyond standard business hours are necessary for this position.
Essential Functions:
- Labor Law Compliance:
- Provide expertise in labor laws, including FMLA, wage and hour regulations, progressive discipline, and employment law.
- Ensure company policies comply with federal, state, and local labor regulations.
- HRIS Management:
- Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot various HRIS platforms.
- Train staff and clients on HRIS usage and ensure data integrity.
- Benefits Administration:
- Manage employee benefits enrollment and address inquiries related to health, dental, vision, and retirement plans and 401K.
- Ensure compliance with ACA and other benefits-related regulations.
- Experience with automated HRIS systems – ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, Paycom, Employee Navigator
- Strong knowledge of all lines of group health, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance benefits.
- Payroll Support:
- Assist with payroll processes as needed, addressing payroll discrepancies and responding to client inquiries.
- Support the payroll team during new client implementations by assisting with data imports, quality reviews, and providing HRIS training.
- Employee Relations:
- Handle employee and client concerns related to workplace issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Conduct investigations into workplace complaints, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies.
- Client On-Site Visits:
- Travel to client locations to provide on-site HR support, attend meetings, resolve issues, and deliver training.
Non-Essential Functions:
- Event Planning:
- Assist in organizing employee recognition events, training programs, and wellness initiatives.
- Administrative Support:
- Aid the HR team in preparing reports, presentations, and conducting research.
- Perform clerical tasks such as data entry, filing, and general administrative duties.
Educational and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role or equivalent.
- Strong HR and strong knowledge of labor laws (FMLA, wage and hour, progressive discipline, etc.)
- Benefits administration, and payroll processes.
- Proficiency in HRIS platforms with the ability to learn multiple or new systems quickly.
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., moving files, equipment).
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
- Must be able to travel regularly by car or public transportation to client locations.
- Adequate visual and auditory abilities to operate office equipment and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work beyond normal business hours when necessary.
