JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Employer Relations for the Center for Career & Professional Development (CCPD) is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with employers, industry partners, and alumni to enhance employment and internship opportunities for Post University students and alumni. This position is key in designing and executing employer engagement strategies, coordinating career fairs and networking events, and ensuring students are prepared to enter the workforce. The Assistant Director will conduct career coaching appointments with students, guiding career exploration, job search strategies, and professional development. This job is an on-site opportunity on Post University’s main campus in Waterbury, CT, with occasional pre-approved days working remotely. A flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours is required to meet the operational needs of the CCPD.
Whenever working remotely, the candidate’s home network must meet the minimum required speed and follow the hardware connection settings determined by their provisioned equipment and department role. Additionally, candidates must have a reliable Internet connection and a designated and private home office or alternative workspace free from noise or distractions.
No wireless connections are supported. The home internet minimum requirements are a 25 Mb download speed and a 15 Mb upload speed with idle latency (Ping) less than 60. Candidates whose home network speed does not meet the minimum requirements can independently contact their ISP to upgrade their service before their confirmed start date.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Employer Relations
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with employers to create sustainable hiring pipelines for students and alumni.
- Plan and coordinate campus-wide career events, including career fairs, networking events, and employer sessions.
- Create and manage an employer database, tracking student career outcomes to provide actionable insights and reports to leadership.
- Manage recruitment materials and communications to engage employers and promote the CCPD.
- Partner with faculty to bring employers into classrooms and deliver career-focused presentations that connect academic learning with industry needs and job opportunities.
- Assess employer and student feedback from career events to continuously improve employer engagement and ensure students are workforce-ready.
Career Coaching
- Provide individual career coaching, including resume writing, interview preparation, job search strategies, and career exploration.
- Organize and present career-related workshops, webinars, and presentations, targeting both on-campus and online students.
- Coordinate with other staff to support internship and experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Serve as a member of the Workforce Ready Committee to ensure students develop the skills and resources necessary to be workforce-ready.
- Represent the CCPD at professional conferences and events and participate in university committees as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree in Higher Education, Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred.
- 2-3 years of relevant work experience, with a preference for career services, talent acquisition, human resources, higher education, or related fields.
- Demonstrated professionalism and tact when working with students, alumni, employers, and community partners.
- Knowledge of or familiarity with Handshake, career services management platforms, or CRM systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to actively listen and facilitate reflective learning for students and alumni.
- Experience in guiding and teaching the writing of resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Team player with a collaborative mindset and flexibility to work on multiple projects.
- Candidates must demonstrate the ability to connect with a blended community of students (traditional-aged, online adult learners, undergraduate, graduate, etc.) and champion diverse populations to support the university’s DEI commitment.
