CIVIL ENGINEER (STRUCTURAL)
Naval Facilities Engineering Command
You will serve as a CIVIL ENGINEER (STRUCTURAL) NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND ATLANTIC. The selectee for this position will serve as a Civil Engineer (Structural) located at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti Africa.
This position is a 100% TDY position at Camp
, Djibouti, Africa.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
Develops working drawing/specifications for design bid build projects and Request for Proposal (RFP) to accomplish design and construction projects.
Coordinates the activities of the architects, engineers and planners involved with each project to ensure the completion of the diverse specialty areas.
Reviews and approves all Government-required technical submittals contracts (e.g. design drawings, product selection, environmental protection plans, schedules, and quality control plans) to ensure contracts are submitted in a timely manner.
Creates new and improved applications of engineering or architecture concepts to accomplish organization requirements.

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess Have a degree in professional engineering from an accredited college or university that has an engineering curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
A degree in professional engineering from an accredited college or university. The curriculum included differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. NOTE: If your curriculum was ABET certified, choose option A.
A registered professional engineer in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any State in the U.S. The registration is based on a written examination given by the State Board. NOTE: You are highly encouraged to provide a copy of your registration with your application.
A registered professional engineer in the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, or any state in the US, and my registration was achieved by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions), and my registration is in a specialty field within or closely related to the specialty of this position. Successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination and completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in engineering technology (BET) from an accredited college or university that included 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences (to receive credit, the specialty field of the BET program must be within or closely related to the specialty of this position. NOTE: You are highly encouraged to submit documentation that you passed the EIT examination with your application).
Completed, at an accredited college or university, at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences that included courses as described in "B" above, and are acceptable toward a degree in professional engineering.
Completed a four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or an appropriate professional field such as physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology. My work experience includes one or more years of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. NOTE: IF YOU SELECT THIS OPTION, YOUR RESUME MUST REFLECT SUCH EXPERIENCE AND YOU MUST ALSO COMPLETE THE NARRATIVE RESPONSE BELOW. FAILURE TO DO SO MAY DISQUALIFY YOU FOR THIS POSITION.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Using advanced concepts, principles, and practices in engineering/architecture to enable incumbent to serve as an expert in the complex multiple engineering areas of consultation, design, and construction; 2) Performing structural project development and design; 3) Preparing project specifications and cost estimates; 4) Utilizing computers for design, drafting and preparation on calculations and structural engineering drawings.
