Construction portfolio consists of projects located within other Commonwealth Agency facilities such as Department of Corrections (Correctional Institutions), Department of Human Services (State Hospital and Center Facilities), Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (Universities), Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (Readiness Center and Veterans' Hospital), Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (Flood Control, State Parks), and Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (Headquarter Building).
Position is home headquartered; however, daily travel to job sites in the following Eastern Region counties is required: Bucks, Bradford, Carbon, Chester, Columbia, Delaware, Lackawanna, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Montgomery, Northampton, Philadelphia, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Wayne, and Wyoming. In addition, you may occasionally be asked to travel to the following counties outside of the South Eastern Region: Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Montour, Northumberland, and Schuylkill.
As an Assistant Construction Project Coordinator, you will report to a Project Coordinator and assist in managing capital improvement projects for Commonwealth agencies within DGS' South Eastern Region. Duties include coordinating projects to ensure they are in accordance with approved plans, specs, general conditions, laws, regulations, and procedures. You will assist with conducting job conferences, negotiating and approving change orders up to a specific limit, provide technical guidance and direction to outside professionals and contractors, monitor project progress to ensure adherence to project schedules, and utilize problem-solving skills.
This position utilizes construction computer software for administrative forms and processes and generates various documents and reports in the information technology (IT) system. Within this role, you will also represent the department in claims and disputes and ensure effective and efficient customer care to all client agencies and stakeholders. We are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, the ability to communicate effectively, and possesses an enthusiasm for collaborating with others.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- This position is home-headquartered; however daily travel to construction projects is required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of professional building construction administration, construction planning, or construction project engineering experience for renovations and new construction of commercial, institutional, or educational buildings; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements:
- You must possess and maintain an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Additional Requirements:
- You must currently reside in or be willing to relocate prior to employment to Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia County.
- You must be willing to travel to counties inside and outside of the South Eastern Region.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Knowledge of Critical Path Method (CPM) construction schedules.
- Previous work experience on construction projects that utilized separate multiple Prime Contractors to perform the work.
- Experience writing narratives, generating correspondence to contractors, design professionals and/or clients regarding project issues, conditions or potential actions.
- Experience conducting construction meetings.
- Experience reviewing or negotiating construction change orders.
- Microsoft Office Suite and/or Construction Management Software experience.
