Telework:                               This position will report to the headquartered location a minimum of 2 days per week.  You may have the opportunity to telework the remainder of the week, if desired and based on business need.

Work Hours:                          8:30 – 5:00      

 

Salary Range:                        DAG I: Pay Range 8 – Starting salary of $64,431

                                                DAG II: Pay Range 9 – Starting salary of $73,722

 

 

Basic Function


The Office of Attorney General is seeking an attorney to work in the Financial Enforcement Section in Harrisburg. Attorneys in this section collect debts owed to the Commonwealth, the Office of Attorney General, and other Commonwealth agencies in state court and all federal bankruptcy courts. Attorneys in this section also provide support to the Office of Attorney General and other Commonwealth agencies in matters involving collection and bankruptcy. Employees manage their own cases and also assist more senior attorneys on matters deemed to be more complex and difficult. As a Deputy Attorney General I or II (DAG I or DAG II) gains experience, work is performed with more independence. 



  • Prepares and argues cases in Pennsylvania state courts and federal bankruptcy courts
  • Prepares motions, objections, pleadings, briefs, and other court papers in conjunction with lawsuits, trials, hearings, and other litigation
  • Works with civil investigative team to direct investigations and asset searches 
  • Counsels clients regarding case-related activities and interfaces with them regularly
  • Works with clients to devise and implement litigation strategy
  • Drafts, serves, and responds to discovery requests
  • Conducts legal research on a variety of topics including but not limited to the Bankruptcy Code, Bankruptcy Rules, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, state collections & tax law, and related case law
  • Works with administrative support teams
  • Performs additional and related work as required


Individuals who have graduated law school, and are sitting for the July 2024 Bar Exam in the state of Pennsylvania, will be considered for this position as a Law Clerk with continued employment being contingent on the receipt of passing results in October 2024.


Deputy Attorney General I:
 

  • Graduation from an accredited school of law and admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania

 

Deputy Attorney General II:


  • Graduation from an accredited school of law, admission to the Bar of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in professional legal work
