Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Senior Robotics Engineer at the National Robotics Engineering Center located in Pittsburgh, PA responsible for developing robotic systems and simulation tools to facilitate the validation and testing of robotic applications. Specific duties include: (i) designing, developing, and analyzing software and robotic subsystems/components; (ii) assembling, integrating and testing various robotic subsystems/components; (iii) developing simulation tools to facilitate the development and testing of robotic applications; (iv) performing other R&D tasks, such as researching new algorithms; (v) architect robotic systems, designing high level subsystems interaction for automation applications; (vi) interacting with customers to capture system specifications and define robotic system requirements; (vii) mentoring and coordinating team of developers in the implementation of robotic solutions; (viii) travelling to support field experiments in the field; (ix) generating documentation for simulation APIs and software tools; and (x) other duties as assigned, based upon the needs of the department.
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the field of robotics, software or automation development.
Must have 3 years of experience (can be concurrent) with each of the following: (i) C++; (ii) implementing simulation tools using Unreal Engine, Unity or similar high visual fidelity environments; (iii) scripting languages for quick prototyping of robotics algorithms, including Python; (iv) Linux development; and (v) developing robotics software.
