Job Title: Broadcast Engineer – Networking, Desktop & Windows Support
Job Summary:
Lilly Broadcasting, a family-owned media group located in Erie, PA is looking for a Full-Time Broadcast Engineer that will thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven work environment. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Broadcast Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining broadcast systems, network infrastructure, and desktop support, while ensuring smooth and efficient operation of both on-site and remote broadcasting services. The role requires a strong background in networking, Windows support, and broadcast equipment operation, as well as the ability to troubleshoot, install, and configure new systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Support: Maintain, troubleshoot, and configure broadcast network systems, including routers, switches, and firewalls to ensure optimal signal transmission and connectivity.
Desktop & Windows Support: Provide desktop support for end-users by troubleshooting hardware and software issues, ensuring system performance, and resolving Windows-related issues. Install and configure software updates as required.
Broadcast Equipment Installation & Operation: Install, set up, and operate new broadcast equipment, including RF transmitters, video servers, encoders, and other related devices, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
RF & Transmitter Support: Develop a working understanding of RF systems and transmitters, performing maintenance and troubleshooting of broadcast transmission equipment.
Software Learning & Support: Stay up to date with emerging software technologies and broadcast tools. Learn and support new software applications related to broadcasting operations.
Physical Support: Ability to lift 50lbs and assist in the physical setup and teardown of broadcast equipment during installations, maintenance, upgrades, or remote productions.
Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with engineering and technical teams to develop and maintain documentation for all systems and processes. Provide support for system audits and upgrades.
On-Call Support: Provide after-hours or on-call support for live broadcast events or technical issues as required.
Qualifications:
Strong knowledge and experience with networking protocols, hardware, and desktop support (Windows).
Experience with RF transmission systems, antennas, and signal flow.
Ability to quickly learn new broadcast software and technologies.
Ability to lift 50lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Previous experience in a broadcast engineering environment is a plus, but not mandatory.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with broadcast automation systems and media servers.
Networking, Python, Apple Script
Experience with broadcast equipment installation, operation, and maintenance.
Working Conditions:
Ability to work irregular hours, weekends, and on-call as needed for live events or emergencies.
Work may involve exposure to loud noises, heavy equipment, and outdoor environments during installation and maintenance.
