Description This position is located in United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), Northeast Area, in State College, PA.

In this position, you will serve as a personal assistant to the Research Leader and other professional staff, coordinating a wide variety of administrative and clerical tasks essential to the program administration of the Management Unit.Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

GS-06:
Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience includes experience using established policies and procedures to complete work tasks; preparing correspondence on established guidelines and processes; assisting with office administration tasks; using Microsoft Office programs to edit documents used for administrative reports; and using calendaring software (eg. Microsoft Outlook) to maintain an office calendar.

All applicants must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

GS-07:
Specialized Experience:
Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-06 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-05 which is directly related to the work of this position, and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience includes experience reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper format, grammar, or punctuation; reviewing and editing reports or memos intended for external or internal dissemination; providing administrative support to an office such as time keeping, coordinating travel, file management, and paying routine bills or maintaining an office budget; entering information into computerized database systems; using established policies and procedures to complete work tasks; and coordinating events such as conferences, seminars, or trainings.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.This position does not have an education qualification requirement.
Salary44,959.00 - 64,952.00 Annual
