This position serves as Receptionist and Switchboard Operator in our Bedford office. This position requires the Clerk 2 to establish and maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers, consumers, and the general public. Exceptional communication is key as this position is responsible for welcoming all visitors to DBHS, notifying appropriate staff upon arrival of consumers/visitors, as well as providing consumers with excuses or mileage vouchers as requested. Work includes updating sign in/out board, providing general information to the public, as well as operating the switchboard by answering all calls and routing to appropriate staff, either directly or by voice mail. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Proofreading documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Recording all checks and monies received by the agency in Accounts Receivable computer program
  • Generating reports
  • Handling incoming and outgoing mail
  • Attending required meetings and trainings
  • Training new clerical workers on the switchboard/receptionist duties
     

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • On occasion, staff may need to work hours outside of the set work week to complete projects, meet work demands, or in the event of an emergency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerk 1 and educational development to the level of the eighth grade; or
  • Completion of a high school business curriculum; or
  • Any equivalent experience and/or training which provided the required knowledges and abilities.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

 

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
