Our client a growing Plastics Manufacturing company seeks an experienced Plant Manager to oversee their Manufacturing and Distribution facility. This individual will be responsible for effectively planning, directing and coordinating all facility operations within their rigid plastic packaging products operation. Through a hands-on approach, this individual will achieve efficient and economical operation of the plant, conforming to the established goals of safety, quality, quantity, cost, and delivery.
- Essential Functions:
- Responsible for manufacturing products of high quality in the most cost effective and safe manner possible.
- Maintains building, grounds, and equipment to provide and sustain a clean, safe, healthy and quality working environment for maximum efficiency, productivity.
- Maintains close surveillance and control over plant operations, through the use of performance indicators, reports, staff meetings, observations and personal contact.
- Assures coordination of plant functions, responsibilities, budgetary performance, manpower utilization, skills, equipment, facilities and production control and inventory control systems. If necessary, recommend or take corrective actions to improve.
- Responsible for and/or involved in creating methods and efficiencies. Responsible for problem solving, continuous improvement, and problem recognition/resolution resulting in cost reductions, work simplifications and method improvements.
- Motivates all plant employees, encouraging optimum productivity. Encourage employee communication and endorse an open door policy.
- Performs those administrative and employee relations activities including hiring and firing, disciplinary action, interviewing and selection of employees, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, communication meetings, integrating and measuring the work performed.
- Participates in developing the data collection system for production standards and costing. Maintains the system and improves it. Also participates and coordinates other activities such as monthly physical inventories.
- Qualification Required:
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent in education/experience in Plastics manufacturing.
- Experience in a position directly overseeing the distribution facility and manufacturing of a 20 million dollar or larger company.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Must be computer literate, especially with Office suite.
