As a Corrections Plant Mechanic you will maintain and operate steam boilers, heating boilers, chilled water systems, cooling towers, and standby generators for the central utility plant at SCI Phoenix. You will repair and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment, clean central air compressors, monitor hot water and chilled water expansion tanks, and identify issues needing corrective action. In addition, you will demonstrate the standard practices used in boiler plant maintenance and repair to inmate workers while exercising care, custody, and control at all times.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in performing skilled mechanical repair work involving heavy machines; and such training as may have been gained through graduation from high school; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

 

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
