Overview

CAES is seeking a Director of Operations to join the team in Woburn MA to oversee operations management of manufacturing Value Streams and related operational functions. This role is responsible for the strategy behind optimally producing products and directing site Operational activities to assure products are manufactured on-schedule, in complete conformance to requirements, and within cost objectives. The incumbent needs to understand the measures and key performance indicators within the manufacturing discipline, as well as have proven experience in improving operational results, to the benefit of the customer satisfaction and the business' financial performance.

This role also operates as the Woburn Site Lead, responsible for positively impacting the site's work environment, employee engagement and communications, and ensuring the CAES Values are core to our success. This will require operating capably in a matrixed environment through collaboration and commitment to each other. A second site in Whippany NJ is associated with the Woburn business and as such would fall under the purview of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a Best-in-Class Manufacturing operation (Center of Excellence) relentlessly driving strategy toward growth and achievement.
  • In conjunction with Divisional Leadership, ensure the setting and achievement of budget and operational performance including necessary resources, output, quality, cost, delivery and lead time.
  • Leads change and develops a site-wide improvement culture to deliver year-on-year operational improvement.
  • Drive cultural change through Operations to singularly focus on customer priorities of delivery, quality, and relationships.
  • Responsible for establishment, distribution, management, and implementation of the Operations Strategy, to include steady reduction of manufacturing lead times. Maximize efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Drives the development of department budgets considering factors such as cost targets, manpower, material and equipment forecasts, and sales forecasts.
  • Direct and Operations and Manufacturing teams to accomplish goals of the Plan, consistent with established manufacturing and safety procedures.
  • Identify, recommend and implement changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap and increase manufacturing velocity. Direct the establishment, implementation and maintenance of production standards.
  • Monitors and drives financial and operational metrics, across the site, including key KPIs. Provides reports and pro-actively escalates issues that may impact business objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes that provide visibility into goals, progress, and obstacles for our key initiatives.
  • Uphold organization policies and standards.
  • Work closely with human resources to lead your team with integrity and establish and maintain a trusting, inclusive, and productive environment.
  • Establish a succession plan for Operations to maintain business continuity and promote employee development.
  • Assures that Environmental, Health and Safety Issues are addressed considering local regulations, CAES Zero harm policy and good corporate citizenship.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 10 years’ experience in an operations management role, within manufacturing, that includes business management and people leadership.
  • Or, Master's Degree and a minimum 6 years' experience in operations management, within manufacturing, that includes business management and people leadership.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience leading high-performing teams within Operations
  • Directly relevant experience in electronics, Microwave and/or RF (radio frequency) manufacturing leadership.
  • Proven commitment to achieving site-wide collaboration and focus on customer (internal and external) satisfaction
  • Experience driving site-wide leadership on financial, operational, and cultural achievements.
  • LEAN greenbelt training (or ability to undertake).
  • Change agent – embracing LEAN (Toyota Production System) and relentless advocate of Continuous Improvement.
  • Strategic knowledge of production operations management for quality, yield and cost.
  • Experience in strategic decisions involving standard manufacturing work (machining, assembly, etc.), involving cost reduction; materials sourcing; line automation; financials and measures; workforce productivity & flexibility; etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management.
  • Advanced problem solving ability, Strong ERP understanding and Root cause analysis.
  • Outstanding communication skills to every level of the organization with a values-based approach to leading teams.

Salary Range: $154,302 - $238,824 annually (Woburn, MA)

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well business results.
