In this role, your primary responsibilities of this position include receiving, reviewing, verifying results, and issuing clearance verification for Pennsylvania Child Abuse, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History, Federal Bureau of Investigations and National Sex Offender Registry. This also encompasses out of state clearances and the Consolidated Eligibility Letter System. The Clearance Verification Unit plays a crucial role by providing clearances and verifications that determine an individual's eligibility under Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Law and Regulations, ensuring that only qualified individuals are permitted to work with children or assume responsibility for their welfare.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM or 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. 
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after completing a 12 week in-office training, followed by 1 week in-office every 4 to 5 weeks. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (commonwealth title); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

 

Other Requirements:

Legal Requirements: 

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    1. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
