Amazon is looking for a Construction Project Manager who will be responsible for the design and construction of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Amazon facilities in the U.S.
Construction Project Managers will handle both the design management and construction execution of EV charging infrastructure, including power distribution systems and charging stations. This involves overseeing the design process and ensuring compliance with Amazon's standards, local codes, and project-specific requirements. The projects focus on EV charger installations electrical distribution, and service upgrades.
Construction Project Managers will collaborate with electrical engineers, architects, and other design consultants to develop optimal EV charging solutions. They will review design documents and ensure seamless integration of charging infrastructure with new and existing facility systems.
Construction Project Managers are required to perform detailed deep dive reviews of designs, job budgets, and schedules to identify and resolve any discrepancies, including information in contractor bid packages. They will also manage design and construction related change orders and value engineering processes to optimize project outcomes.
Construction Project Managers will partner with internal customers and external stakeholders (including utility companies, electrical contractors, charging equipment manufacturers, and design professionals) to earn their trust and engage as a team to deliver results. The Construction Project Manager will serve as Amazon's representative and direct point of interface with Developers, General Contractors, Utilities, Electrical Contractors, Equipment Vendors, and Design Consultants, as well as the primary integrator between design and construction, and other Amazon stakeholders responsible for implementing, furnishing, and operating our EV charging network.
This opportunity combines design management, construction, engineering, planning, project management, facilities management, and contract management.
Key job responsibilities
Project Management & Execution:
Manage multiple concurrent EV charging infrastructure projects from conception through completion across the assigned region
Oversee project budgets, schedules, and quality control measures
Lead contractor and consultant procurement processes
Work independently with minimal direction while managing regional projects
This role requires 60% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.
Conduct comprehensive budget tracking, forecasting, and management
Assess project performance through KPIs for safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability
Design & Technical Management:
Direct design development and review for compliance with Amazon standards
Provide technical direction for engineering design/AutoCAD, building design, and layouts
Review designs for conformance to current building specifications
Prepare technical analysis, specifications, and reports defining design requirements
Identify value engineering opportunities and design enhancements
Survey facilities and develop audit procedures
Identify and resolve design conflicts and schedule clashes with other Amazon teams
Construction Oversight:
Manage construction execution and contractor performance
Coordinate with utilities for new electrical services and upgrades
Establish information systems for effective scheduling and work recording
Audit contractors for appropriate skills and competencies
Guide project teams throughout the full project lifecycle
Ensure contracted resources meet duration and quality targets
Stakeholder & Contract Management:
Negotiate contracts and changes with developers and General Contractors
Partner with internal technical teams and operational customers
Lead project meetings and provide transparent cross-team communication
Coordinate with regulatory bodies and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
Review and process cost and time change requests
Ensure contracts include appropriate Service Level Agreements
Facilitate due diligence evaluation of new opportunities
Project Documentation & Transition:
Partner with teams for building management transition
Oversee turnover documentation
Maintain project records and reporting systems
Document facility evaluations and infrastructure recommendations
Review and guide internally requested changes
Project Scope:
EV charging station installations
Electrical service upgrades
Power distribution systems
Site civil improvements
Charging equipment procurement and installation
Utility coordination
Permitting and compliance requirements
Integration with facility systems
Project documentation and closeout
This position combines technical expertise in electrical systems, strong construction management experience, and excellent project management skills. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships while delivering critical EV charging infrastructure for Amazon's growing electric vehicle fleet.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A completed Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or comparable field.
5+ years of experience as an Architect, Engineer, Construction Manager, Development Manager, Owner’s Representative or other Development and Construction related disciplines.
5+ years project management experience from design phase through implementation and operation.
5+ years of experience negotiating construction, procurement and labor contracts
2+ years of project/program management
Ability to travel up to 40% within assigned regions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or Masters of Business.
Experience operating within at least two disciplines in the construction industry, which could consist of General Contracting, Owner’s Representation, Commercial Development, Engineering & Design, owners project management representative or similar.
Demonstrated capability in the planning, design review & implementation, and project management /control of new structures & the enhancement of existing facility buildings.
Experience managing multi-disciplinary design incorporating industrial automation, robotics, or similar
Demonstrated success in communicating project requirements to various audiences (e.g. senior management, peers, public officials, vendors, etc.)

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $69,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
