Overview

#CAES by #Honeywell is seeking a seeking a highly skilled and experienceda Senior Mechanical Designer responsible for design and drafting work related to microwave subsystems used in defense and aerospace applications. Working with mechanical engineering, primary responsibilities will include the mechanical design and layout of electronic packaging, including the generation of detailed drawings, fixture designs, and the support of other mechanical related activities. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for supporting thin film substrate design and all related documentation and activities.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with mechanical engineers to complete detailed 3D and 2D CAD models and layouts of microwave subsystems and assemblies. This includes the mechanical packaging and enclosure design of various components such as circuit cards, cables, connectors, hermetic and non-hermetic subassemblies, etc.
  • Generate detailed drawings including 2D fabrication drawings, detailed top level assembly drawings and other manufacturing related documentation.
  • The design of various fixtures and tools to support the assembly and testing of subsystems.
  • Works with internal machine shop to have prototypes and test fixtures created and/or modified.
  • Other mechanical tasks as required including part and drawing modifications, BOM and documentation related tasks, drawing and fixtures design updates to support manufacturing operations.
  • Support all substrate design and documentation activities including the detailed design of thin film substrates. Process requires an in-depth knowledge of internal thin film design guidelines (training provided).
  • Optimize substrate layouts for improved production yields.
  • Generate all required substrate documentation for ECO release.
  • Interface with external substrate vendors as required.
  • Complete internal substrate design and guideline training program

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associates degree in Mechanical Design or related field such as Industrial Design or Industrial Technology or related is required with at 6+ years relevant work experience in a similar role.
  • Well experienced at 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks or Creo) and 2D CAD software such as ACAD/Draftsight.
  • Ability to create complex assemblies and layouts in 3D or 2D.
  • Generation of detailed 2D fabrication drawings utilizing GD&T.
  • Experience with drafting and documenting thin film substrates
  • Candidate must have good communication skills to interact with various internal organizations and must be able to coordinate efforts and work closely with a wide variety of groups within the business
  • US Citizenship is required and the ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD Security Clearance are required.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active secret security clearance

Preferred:

  • Associates degree in Mechanical Design or related field such as Industrial Design or Industrial Technology or related is required with at 8+ years relevant work experience in a similar role.

Salary Range (hourly rate): Designer IV: $43.00-$63.00 and Designer V: $49.00-$64.00 Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
