JOB SUMMARY:

Post University seeks a visionary and dynamic Director of Campus Life to lead efforts in fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for our resident and commuter students at our main campus in Waterbury, CT.

As the Director of Campus Life, you will play a critical role in shaping student experiences through leadership in residence life, student activities, and community standards. This is a high-impact position that requires strategic thinking, operational excellence, and a deep commitment to student development. The Director of Campus Life is an on-site role at Post University’s main campus in Waterbury, CT.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Leadership & Management

  • Provide strategic direction for Campus Life, including residence life, housing, student activities, and community standards.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor Community Directors, Resident Assistants, and student workers to create a cohesive, high-performing team.
  • Develop and manage budgets for Campus Life operations, Student Government Association, and student clubs.

Student Development & Crisis Management

  • Create initiatives that support students’ academic, social, and personal growth.
  • Serve as a resource and point of contact for student crises, collaborating with Mental Health and Wellness, Health Services, and other departments.
  • Train staff to effectively respond to and support student needs.

Residence Life & Housing

  • Optimize housing operations, including room assignments, occupancy reports, and maintenance oversight.
  • Lead the annual housing selection process and ensure compliance with health, safety, and housing regulations.

Student Activities

  • Oversee the Student Government Association and student clubs, ensuring diverse and meaningful activities.
  • Plan events that foster leadership, professional development, and social connections.

Community Standards

  • Enforce policies outlined in the Student Handbook, focusing on fair and educational outcomes.
  • Investigate incidents and collaborate with the Director of Public Safety on emergency responses.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work with university departments, faculty, and external stakeholders to enhance the student experience.
  • Measure program effectiveness and use data to inform continuous improvement.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires a flexible schedule with some evening and weekend hours to meet the department’s operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred in higher education administration, student development, counseling, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in campus life or residence life management.
  • Expertise in student development, staff supervision, and operational management.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with the ability to connect with diverse student populations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
