Basic Function

The Office of Attorney General is seeking an attorney to work in the Litigation Section in Harrisburg. Attorneys in this section defend claims including civil rights, constitutional law, and employment law, while representing the Commonwealth, the Office of Attorney General, the Governor, and other Commonwealth agencies, officials, and employees. Each attorney on the team handles cases from service of legal process through posttrial motions and consultation with the Appellate Litigation Section on any appeals. These cases are often, but not exclusively, in federal court in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Employees manage their own cases but also assist more senior attorneys on matters deemed to be more complex and difficult. As a Deputy Attorney General I (DAG I) gains experience, work increases in complexity and is performed with more independence.
