The Bureau of Disability Determination (BDD) is currently recruiting two Medical Consultants for the Wilkes-Barre Branch Office. The Bureau of Disability Determination is the state agency that assists the Social Security Administration (SSA) in determining whether Pennsylvanians are eligible for federal disability benefits.

Work Hours: 7:30 am - 3:30 pm Monday-Friday; 30-minute lunch

Disability Physician Specialists are responsible for performing disability claims reviews to assure the correct interpretation of medical evidence and the appropriate application of the Social Security Administration (SSA) medical policies and regulations.
Interested individuals must have three years of post-residency experience in the medical specialty or sub-specialty practiced and have an active or retired license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine and State Board of Medicine. Medical malpractice is not necessary.
This is an administrative role and requires no patient contact.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements -

Necessary Special Requirement -
All positions require possession of an active unrestricted or active retired license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine or the Pennsylvania State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
