Job Description
Operations Science utilizes Operations Research, Machine Learning and Analytical techniques to solve complex supply chain problems. Team creates algorithms and optimization models to improve our customers’ operational efficiency. Our team tackles problems in warehousing, packaging and transportation that traditional systems and off the shelf software do not. Building solutions in-house, with scalable platforms that can be extended globally.
- Identify opportunities for applying advanced optimization techniques across the supply chain
- Architect the development of new cloud based supply chain enterprise systems and applications, determining key design elements, technical specs, platforms and coding standards in Python or Java
- Define the business questions that need be answered and determine appropriate analytical models and approaches to solving such problems
- Patent approaches and work with leading universities in researching future opportunities
- Practical experience developing large-scale decision support tools based on optimization e.g., LP, MIP,NLP, etc...)
- Code experience in object oriented languages like python and java
- Experience building high performance, high availability and applications
- Solid background in algorithms and data structures
- Able to learn quickly and dive deeply to diagnose the root cause of problems
- Able to develop code independently
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, required
- Master or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Transportation Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field (desired)
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, required
- Relevant work experience in supply chain modelling (e.g., scheduling, vehicle routing, facility location, assignment problems, warehouse picking optimization advanced heuristics) (desired)
- Practical experience developing large-scale decision support tools based on optimization e.g., LP, MIP, NLP, etc...) (desired)
- Knowledge / Familiarity with large-scale simulation modeling (desired)
- Knowledge / Familiarity with stochastic processes and optimization under uncertainty (desired)
- Knowledge / Familiarity with forecasting and time series analysis (desired)
- Knowledge / Familiarity with machine learning techniques and technologies (desired)
- Knowledge / Familiarity with data visualization (e.g. Power BI, R, Tableau) (desired)
- Code experience in object oriented languages like python and java (desired)
