Description Position Summary – 504 Coordinator

Working from a CCA Family Service Center located in Pennsylvania, the 504 Coordinator is primarily responsible for providing support to learners who qualify pursuant to section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This individual will be involved in all aspects of the development of 504 Service Agreements and management of services and supports provided. Through use of the telephone, Internet, and various curriculum tools they will consult regularly with CCA staff, caretakers, learning coaches, and learners. The 504 Coordinator will facilitate evaluation/eligibility determinations, develop 504 Service Agreements, and monitor the implementation of 504 Service Agreements. The individual will work closely with other teachers and CCA staff, agencies, and other professionals to ensure the implementation of Section 504 procedures in CCA in compliance with federal and state regulations.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as the school-based coordinator for designated caseload to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and expertise on evidence-based practices, legal mandates, and service delivery to learners eligible for 504 Service Agreements.
  • Develop, write and implement 504 Service Agreements
  • Coordinate Section 504 referral process
  • Support school counselors and classroom teachers in meeting the implementation requirements of 504 Service Agreements
  • Support K-12 teams in identifying educational needs, supports, and services for learners eligible for 504 Service Agreements through development of effective professional learning
  • Attend regularly scheduled professional development and Section 504 training meetings
  • Coordinate and implement the child find procedures required federal, state and local requirements
  • Provide applicable 504 notices and consents
  • Facilitates evaluation/eligibility determination team meetings for Section 504
  • Schedule, organize and conduct annual reviews of each Section 504 learners
  • Participate in the school’s Learner Support Teams
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the school’s Learning Management System for Section 504 learners
  • Coordinate accommodations that are required based on the 504 Service Agreement for state assessments.
  • Serve as a liaison between K-12 services and administrative leadership for the purpose of enhancing communications between all parties
  • Participate in a variety of school wide and department meetings
  • Provide recommendations to the CCA’s Administrative Designee based upon learner needs, personnel, equipment, supplies, etc. that will enhance the services for learners
The 504 Coordinator will possess the following essential functions:
  • Experience in writing 504 Service Agreements
  • Basic knowledge of IDEA and Chapter 711
  • Knowledge of accommodations, modifications, and assistive technology in the cyber school setting to address all of the above issues
  • Understanding of learner behavior and mental health issues and appropriate interventions
  • Experience with inter-agency collaboration for mental health and behavioral support
  • Knowledge in understanding in regard to school refusal related to truancy or mental health issues, and distinguishing between the two
  • Knowledge and experience with data-driven instruction
  • Experience collaborating with parents and staff regarding Learner Attendance Improvement Plan
  • Experience with using diagnostic tools and approaches to determine the root of academic concerns and their link to appropriate accommodation

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend or stand as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Education and Experience
  • PA Teaching Certification
  • Bilingual preferred
  • 5 years of relevant work/teaching experience
  • Experience with IEP Writer and PowerSchool
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
