As a Civil Engineering Consultant specializing in Transportation, you will act as the primary liaison between the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the Public Utility Commission (PUC) on highway-rail crossings. Your duties include preparing and submitting applications for modifications to these crossings, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
You will represent the Bureau of Design and Delivery during PUC field conferences to assess and recommend necessary improvements. You will review design and construction plans for railroad-highway projects and assist in drafting petitions for the PUC. You will deliver vital guidance, technical assistance, and training on statewide policies to eliminate hazards at highway-rail crossings. Furthermore, you will lead the development, updating, and maintenance of an electronic grade crossing system, significantly bolstering the safety and efficiency of our transportation infrastructure.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment; 37.5 hours work week.
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday.
- Alternative Work Schedule (AWS) may be available
- You will report to the closest PennDOT office to your home.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office closest to your home.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of professional civil engineering experience which includes three years in the appropriate specialty.
Special Requirements: - This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Post Employment Requirement: - Successful candidates with an out-of-state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.
Conditions of Employment: - This position will require you to have possession of a valid driver's license.
