As a Supervisory Security Specialist, you will serve as a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) by assisting and supporting with planning and operational support HSPD-12 related services for GSA.
Location of position: GSA HSPD-12 Program, Office of Mission Assurance. Location will be determined upon selection.

You will perform the following duties as a Supervisory Security Specialist:
- Exercises initiative and independent judgment in supporting, organizing and conducting analyses involving HSPD-12 initiatives including coordinating procedures to support the creation, issuance, and management of Personal Identity Verification (PIV) credentials for GSA employees and contractors nationwide, supporting the use of the credentials for secure electronic access of GSA employees and contractors to GSA buildings and information systems as called for by HSPD-12, and managing the background investigation process for federal employees and contractors.
- Provides technical advice and guidance to employees, contractors, affiliates, and volunteers about matters pertaining to the PIV Program.
- Incumbent uses techniques to research and gather information and procedures to meet deadlines and carry out the successive steps to complete each phase of assigned work/project.
- Prepares and delivers briefings and training to other staff members on the HSPD-12 program.
- Provides nation-wide daily help-desk support of the HSPD-12 program by answering help desk questions and phone calls.
This position has job functions that must be executed within a specific geographic location. The official duty station is a federal facility, leased space, or an alternative worksite (typically the employee’s home). Positions include routine telework and remote work arrangements that are geographically specific to: Boston, MA, Philadelphia, PA, or New York, NY.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $117,962 per year.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or higher in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience managing and/or coordinating the HSPD-12 program/PIV cards/credentials and background investigations. This experience must have involved the development and implementation of program policies and concepts, policy interpretation, and critical operations planning for the personnel and information security of an organization.
