WHAT YOU WILL DO

The position is responsible for the critical role of in process and final inspection of the completed product, insuring that the customer receives zero defects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the daily monitoring of the overall quality.

  • Use a variety of subjective and objective Quality Assessment techniques to determine if the product meets the form, fit and functional requirements of the customer.
  • Use a variety of measurement tools including but not limited to micrometers, calipers and specialized go/no-go gages.
  • Perform inspection of completed product following inspection instructions, cab traveler and option sheets, and ensuring that the customer receives exactly the product ordered, free of defects.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of nonconforming products that require rework/repairs with written descriptions of the required corrective actions. Initiate problem-solving process.
  • Inspect product a second time after repairs are completed.
  • Input data into the computer when the product is completed and ready to ship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Facilitator and/or Manager.
  • Clean work area at the end of each shift.
  • Adherence to established safety policies, procedures and practices.
  • Supports the organization’s efforts toward continuous improvement.
  • Supports the organization’s goals and values.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by collaborating with others to improve overall standards of performance and service.
  • Provides good customer service to all customers, both internal and external.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • EDUCATION: Basic education requirement is high school diploma or GED with math and reading comprehension.
  • EXPERIENCE: This position requires a comprehensive knowledge of the standard techniques used in manufacturing inspection.
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Basic arithmetic and calculator skills with knowledge of integer numbers, decimal fractions and units of measure to include both the English system (feet and inches) and the Metric System (meters, centimeters and millimeters).
  • DETAIL ORIENTED: Able to develop an excellent ability to recognize product features (example, surface finish of paint, the gap around the door, or, a pattern of holes associated with a feature option) that conform or, do not conform to the customer requirements.
  • CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None required, however, continuing education and certification through organizations like ASQ is strongly encouraged.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
    • Overhead lifting may be required
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
