SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The role of the Enterprise Project Management Office Director is to establish, implement, develop and control best practices for strategic realization projects throughout the health system and through leadership of the enterprise project management staffing components. Reporting directly to the VP, Chief Operational Excellence Officer for Penn State Health, the director acquires resources and coordinates the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver enterprise-wide strategic projects. The role leads and motivates a team of Project/Portfolio Managers and support staff, develops and enhances enterprise-wide and internal project processes, and provides leadership throughout the entire life cycle of required strategic projects.

The Director, ePMO leads a system wide team who is accountable for on-time, in budget delivery of business-critical projects as defined in the overall organizational strategic plan. The director provides thought leadership and project portfolio level reporting to the executive leadership team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum ten (10) years of directly related experience required.
  • Five (5) years of leadership and management experience in leading enterprise project management office/teams.
  • Project Management Professional Certification or equivalent required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience as a healthcare management consultant.
  • Experience directing team based strategic projects focused on process engineering and redesign, performance improvement, change management.
  • Prior experience building and leading a team that is part of a transformation effort.
  • Experience in developing and driving implementation of business strategies within the Healthcare industry.
  • Experience building and leading a high performing enterprise-wide project management office in an academic health system.
  • Advanced performance improvement skills such as Lean Six Sigma with hands-on experience in process redesign and project management.
