WHAT DOES A MANAGEMENT AND PROGRAM ASSISTANT/CLERK DO? Management and Program assistants/clerks perform clerical and technical work in support of management and/or program analysis functions. You will identify recognizable differences in stable work units, program areas, and program operations and make appropriate decisions to determine resolution. You will be responsible for building case files for transmission to field employees, which includes reviewing taxpayer correspondence, researching systems for necessary information, and generating follow-up actions.”

As a a Management and Program Assistant (OA) you will:

  • Identify potential, actual problems and probable causes where you will research issues and gather pertinent statistics and report findings.
  • Monitor, review, and evaluate operations and interrelationships with other functions regarding workflow, work redundancy, or systemic problems.
  • Randomly verify completeness of specific sets of controls, accuracy of procedures, and effectiveness of actions.
  • Prepare memoranda, reports, and charts showing findings or recommendations.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. 

You must have 1 year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-5 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: experience that is related to the work of this position and has provided you with the knowledges, skills and abilities required for successful job performance. To be qualifying, your experience must be sufficient to demonstrate knowledge of applicable program policies and procedures to analyze and evaluate information, interpret guidance, draw conclusions, and coordinate studies or projects. For example, preparing memoranda, preliminary reports, and charts; Evaluating redundancy or systematic problems; and reviewing timeliness and effectiveness of actions. Knowledge of work functions of assigned area and familiarity with objectives to identify problems and gather information; Experience performing individual management or program analysis clerical or technical assignments to provide effective management/program support.
-The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-timework; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
