Overview

SUMMARY:

Analyze the customer's test requirements and the Radio Frequency (RF) & Microwave Engineer's hardware; define, develop test equipment configurations capable of satisfying the customer's test requirements; create Test Plans, Acceptance Test Procedures and build Test set-ups for well-defined programs, such as Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or Special Test Equipment (STE) designed specifically for the Device Under Test (DUT); increase test capability for both RF/Microwave and digital products and the associated planning, coordinating, scheduling and equipment design, selection and fabrication for routine tasks; performs work of high complexity.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer specifications to identify unique and routine test requirements.
  • Develop test plans with schedules that meet engineering and manufacturing specifications; coordinate test station development with design, manufacturing and software engineers.
  • Define the commercial test equipment, fixturing, special test equipment and software/firmware requirements in an Acceptance Test Procedure.
  • Develop schematics and assembly drawings for test station or set-up.
  • Coordinate test system development with ATE software and digital RF/Microwave design; ensure documentation of test station is under configuration control; support validation of test software.
  • Schedule test system design reviews with production and quality assurance.
  • Identify specific design tools to automate design activities such as tuning, temperature compensation or programming components internal to UUT; design and build the physical hardware needed. for test fixtures, setups and test unit interfaces.
  • Participate in safety training and actively comply with safety policies and practices; maintain a clean and safe workstation.
  • Improve and maintain 5S in your area; make suggestions for improvements.
  • Participate in Lean/Six Sigma activities in own work area as well as events in other areas to enhance cross-functional problem solving.
  • Collaborate in team meetings and activities, including SET team support as appropriate.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in RF/Microwave systems and components including the development and testing of components.
  • Two (2) years experience with ATE(Automated Test Equipment) software tools such as Labview and NI TestStand.
  • Two (2) years experience with Agilent/Keysight, network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, etc.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export law. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a "US Person" under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Physics, Math or Computer Science.
  • Five (5) years of experience in RF/Microwave systems and components including the development and testing of components.
  • Aerospace & Defense experience a plus.
  • DoD Secret Clearance.
  • Ability to use Enterprise-wide information systems such as SAP or Oracle and drawing-viewing programs such CAD or CAE.
  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout tools like PADs or Expedition.
  • Ability to read schematics, assembly drawings and parts list; ability to create electrical schematic and mechanical drawings; basic knowledge of programming.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics including power and RF theory; RF/Microwave parameters & test procedures.

Salary Range: $81,764.85 - $135,168 annually (San Diego).

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base bay. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
