The Opportunity

The Director, People and Organization will have a unique opportunity to help lead their assigned business unit within Qurate Retail Group. The person in the role will act as the as the primary People support for this team. This high impact, highly visible role is critical to bringing this new area to life and on a growth trajectory. You will partner with Senior Leadership to build their team, strategy, and execution.

This opportunity has key responsibilities for strategic People function partnerships with the most senior level leaders and their teams. The Director, People lead will also be responsible for working to ensure that all people practices are aligned to global, enterprise-wide frameworks, and executed to meet the needs of the local markets and sites, as appropriate.  The individual must also keep a keen eye towards different ways of working to try, learn and improve.

Your Impact

People Strategy & Strategic Business Partner Consulting

  • Architect and champion of People Strategy from team inception – including appropriate talent and organization interventions.
  • Acts as a catalyst for growth performance and ensures that People strategies and plans are translated into concrete actions and tangible results.
  • Conducts themselves as a team player, frequently stepping into varying key roles and responsibilities when needed.
  • Acts as a strong and creative thought partner for Sr leadership to foster new, innovative ideas and growth capabilities.
  • Provides vision and leadership in the development, design, and implementation of effective, sustainable, and transformative people strategies, programs, and services designed to support Qurate Retail Group’s Path Forward and strategic priorities.
  • Provides leadership and support to the function’s or business unit’s leaders on all aspects of People function initiatives including strategy, growth, succession planning, performance management, leadership development, total rewards planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Counsels’ senior leaders and other senior team members on strategic planning, organization and people strategies and processes to drive Qurate Retail Group global growth
  • Performs talent and organization diagnoses to align with and drive strategy.  Prioritizes solutions that will deliver the most benefit to the business.
  • Maintains an external perspective anticipating people trends ensuring strategic people priorities are aligned to these trends locally and/or globally.       

People Solution Delivery

  • Identifies risks to the delivery of business strategy and walks through the challenges and setbacks to find smart solutions
  • Innovates at every turn, people solution and execution, leadership support, talent management, talent development, etc.
  • Anticipates potential leadership gaps and develops solutions
  • Predicts requirements for critical talent
  • Measures and tracks the quality of People work by defining, prioritizing and measuring the contribution to business performance
  • Liaison for business informing COE design and deliverables and any customized People function work based on unique business needs
  • Manages large scale implementation and later change process and supports the business
  • Liaison/partnership with Communications to reinforce company culture
  • Fosters an inclusive culture, which encourages diverse perspectives across all levels
  • Partners with other People Leads, People & Org Business Partners and COE Leaders to ensure delivery of global people strategies and effective decision making for global matrixed functions

What you Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, advanced training/degree in a related field, preferred.
  • 10+ years of total business experience, ideally in areas of Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness or other related experience is required
  • 4 + years’ experience in an HR Business Partner, generalist role or related HR role with responsibilities in areas to include employee relations, staffing, compensation, talent management and development is required.
  • 5+ Experience managing a team of HR professionals.
  • Prior experience as an HR professional in a startup environment preferred
  • Prior experience in consumer goods, commerce, and/or retail industry preferred
  • Experience using HR levers to drive business performance
  • Working knowledge of all key HR skill areas
  • Global collaboration/matrix manager, being negotiator to align agendas
  • Change management delivery
  • Ability to leverage People data to create effective strategies
  • Coaching and consulting skills
  • Thought and influence leadership and trusted strategic advisor on people issues
  • Creates and leverages internal and external networks
