Polk Center has been serving people with Intellectual Disabilities since 1897. We focus on providing an everyday life for the people we support based on the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs "Everyday Lives" principles.
The Aide Trainee is assigned beginning level work and training experiences in the skill development and care of people with developmental disabilities in an assigned area of Polk Center. The Aide Trainee performs all work under close supervision, and emphasis is placed upon learning the basic knowledge, skills, techniques, and attitudes required for the care and habilitation of people with developmental disabilities.
No experience necessary, classroom training is provided on day shift.
7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. during the 6 week training course. All vacancies after training are currently on one of the following shifts:
1st Shift: 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
2nd Shift 2:45 a.m. to 11:15 p.m.
3rd Shift 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
Aide Trainees work a 10 out of 14-day schedule. Final shift and pattern will be determined at the conclusion of training and realignment of current staff.

Based upon the nature of the duties in the position description, the individual selected for this position may be required to annually disclose specific personal and business financial formation in accordance with Management Directive 205.10 regarding Financial Disclosures Required by the Public Official and Employee Ethics Act.
This position comes under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
