Description The Department of Corrections is looking for dedicated individuals to ensure the care, custody, control, and supervision of re-entrants at a state-run community corrections center. This role involves collaborating with staff to facilitate the necessary changes for offenders to successfully reintegrate into society. In this position, you will be tasked with maintaining the daily activity log and monitoring re-entrant behavior through personal interactions and closed-circuit television (CCTV). Your responsibilities will include conducting counts, fire drills, and searches for contraband, as well as managing re-entrant medications and security supplies. You will also maintain a sign-in/out register for re-entrants and visitors, regulate movement within the Community Correctional Center (CCC), and provide orientation for new re-entrants regarding policies and available services. Furthermore, you will perform destination checks and administer breathalyzer and urinalysis tests upon re-entrants' return, document behavior observations, address misconduct, and participate in disciplinary hearings. You will support and oversee necessary adjustments to facilitate the successful reintegration of re-entrants into the community, conduct daily checks to ensure cleanliness, safety, and security throughout the facility, and assist in preparing the center for inspections as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 
  • Full-time employment
  • Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

QUALIFICATIONS

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be willing and able to work in York, York County, Pennsylvania.
  • This position requires shift work. You must be willing and able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. 


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include but are not limited to public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile, or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience).
  • One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include but are not limited to performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).
