This is an office-centered position*--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.

You will:

  • Review, analyze and research the Agency's information assets for response to information requests of a complex nature;
  • Make release determinations to grant or deny official requests for information and prepare responses to requesters and Agency management;
  • Ensure personal information and data is collected, maintained, used, or disseminated only as authorized by law;
  • Develop, implement and/or distribute written privacy policies and procedures that promote commitment to privacy and access to information.

NOTE:  You must meet qualification requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

To qualify for the GS-13 level, you must have 1 year of full-time* specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level defined as monitoring and/or evaluating FOIA-related program activities for efficiency and procedural improvements; reviewing FOIA records claims to determine legal and/or programmatic implications; and collaborating with stakeholders to resolve records disclosure issues under FOIA.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA); 2) Skill in analyzing FOIA claims to determine significance; 3) Skill in oral communication; 4) Skill in written communication; 5) Knowledge of the government information management lifecycle; 6) Skill in project management; 7) Knowledge of regional and national FOIA guidance; 8) Ability to develop and conduct trainings. 

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Salary113,792.00 - 147,934.00 Annual
