Tepper School of Business is seeking a Learning Experience Designer to join the Executive Education (TEE) team. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean, the Learning Experience Designer serves as a resource to the executive education team and faculty to develop learning experiences for executive audiences in our open enrollment and custom programs using a learner-centered approach. Partnering closely with the Assistant Dean, Faculty, and/or subject matter experts, to conceptualize, propose, plan, design, develop, and measure content that cultivates engagement, uses technology to foster connections, and promotes experiential learning.

Core responsibilities include:

Proposal and Program Development

  • Work with the Assistant Dean and/or Senior Directors to develop custom Executive Education proposals for potential corporate partners and new executive programs.
  • Identify and help recruit faculty and SMEs in support and alignment for response to proposals/RFPs/grants.
  • Engage in proposal development and design process including: Meet with potential and existing partners, potential faculty, development of tailored programs, development of proposal presentation materials.
  • Assist in mapping distribution of learning team time, delivery of proposed design to clients, proposal revision, and subsequent meetings with potential partners.
  • Develop, manage and maintain proposal tracking dashboard and collaborate with internal units on timely delivery of proposals and proposal follow-up materials.

Learning Experience and Content Development

  • Develop, manage, and curate content catalog and aligned templates for use by faculty.
  • Foster learning-centered programs and lead subject matter and faculty expert teams in content development and redesign for corporate clients.
  • Recommend new content and experiential elements based on TEE faculty thought leadership and/or industry and market trends.
  • Work with faculty and key stakeholders to identify and develop new creative content solutions and custom materials.
  • Collaborate with TEE Assistant Dean and Senior Directors in leading course planning, new course/program initiatives, working closely with the faculty and SME teams, including attending meetings as necessary, to develop a comprehensive, pedagogically sound learner-centered program, curriculum documentation and assessment plan that meets TEE and program learning objectives.

Project Management

  • Employ the appropriate project management processes to meet targeted timelines, organization, and quality of content/project deliverables for assigned programs.

Metrics and Measurement

  • Create, implement, and refine program evaluations and related reports and/or dashboards.
  • Ensure effective controls are in place to monitor and measures effectiveness of executive programs.
  • Where appropriate, develop effective dashboards for the team’s processes.

Special Projects

  • Participate in special projects/initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and proposal design. Ability to use graphics to communicate high impact content proposals to clients. Knowledge of Salesforce, Intrepid/LMS management, and/or Adobe Express a plus
  • Proficient in analyzing data to drive informed decision-making

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Education, Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Decision Sciences or other relevant field preferred. PhD and/or experience teaching in higher education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience directly related to corporate training, executive education, consulting, instructional design, learning engineer, evaluation, and/or leadership development required, or equivalent experience in higher education preferred.
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Additional Information:

  • Must be available to work some nights and weekends as necessary throughout the year to support and actively participate in TEE events and partner programs both at the University and remote (domestic and/or international) locations as required.
  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity. Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
  • Work Posture: This position is operating on a hybrid schedule, with an on-campus/in-office presence three days a week.
