JOB SUMMARY:

The Assessment Coordinator provides leadership and operational support for outcomes assessment, accreditation reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives within the ASC College of Nursing and Health Sciences. Working collaboratively with faculty, program chairs, and college leadership, the Assessment Coordinator supports the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting of assessment activities that demonstrate student learning, program effectiveness, and compliance with institutional and specialized accreditation standards.

ORGANIZATIONAL DIMENSIONS OF JOB:

The Assessment Coordinator reports to the Dean of ASC College of Nursing and Health Sciences and works collaboratively with program chairs, faculty, and institutional assessment offices to support outcomes assessment, accreditation, and continuous improvement. The position serves all academic programs within the college, providing coordination, guidance, and data-informed recommendations related to assessment processes and reporting. While the role does not carry direct supervisory or budgetary authority, it influences academic decision-making through analysis, documentation, and interpretation of assessment data. The Assessment Coordinator participates in ASC and Post committees and acts as a liaison between the college and assessment units, contributing to a culture of evidence-based improvement and compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Influences student learning, program quality, accreditation outcomes, and strategic planning through systematic assessment and use of evidence.
  • Plays a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the college.
  • Oversees comprehensive program of assessment for institutional improvements.
  • Understands and assesses program learning outcomes and student learning outcomes.
  • Collaborates with the college assessment committee, faculty, and leaders to develop effective strategies for the academic evaluation of student learning outcomes at all program levels.
  • Be an active participant in problem-solving and be comfortable managing ambiguity and multiple priorities.
  • Provides support for assessment activities and analysis of student feedback for Program Chairs.
  • Provides recommendations related to assessment processes, reporting timelines, data interpretation, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Prepare reports for external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with supportive departments and committees to review and interpret reports.
  • Tracks trends in enrollment, retention and pass rates and report to leadership.
  • Contributes to long-term plans for optimizing recruitment, retention, and enrollment.
  • Develops and works within the timelines provided and performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in nursing, health sciences, education, assessment, higher education, or a related field.
  • Experience with academic assessment, accreditation, or institutional effectiveness in higher education.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, administrators, and staff.
  • Proficiency with data analysis, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS

The work environment and physical demands are characteristic of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job, and typical for those working in an academic and/or office setting. The employee must be able to read, write and interpret written documents; must be able to manipulate, handle, feel, and control items or equipment; must be able to sit, reach with hands and arms, and be able to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand or walk. Occasional travel may be required.
