The Dark Nights Technician at Hersheypark is responsible for the operation and upkeep of Attractions/Mazes for a Halloween-themed experience within the amusement park.

Assist the Technical Director on all show nights monitoring and up keeping set decoration, mechanical, animatronic, atmospheric and audio visual aspects of themed walk-thru attractions as well as exterior scare zones.

Ensure all set decoration elements as well as walls/flats are free of damage and/or defects.

Ensure all animatronic, mechanical, and special FX elements within the attractions are free of damage and functioning properly. Ensure proper timing and execution of intended scares and experiences are occurring consistently.

Ensure the proper functioning of all theatrical elements, including the nightly operation and upkeep of equipment, regular assessment of conditions within the overall experience, and execution of adjustments as needed.

Perform general production-related tasks as directed to ensure the show and all show elements operate at maximum efficiency/performance.

Power up and down all attraction equipment and dynamic elements at the top and bottom of each show, ensuring strict adherence to proper procedure as per manufacturer/client specifications.

Perform nightly inspections and deliver assessment reports at the end of each shift.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of pneumatic systems, including all parts of the interconnected components and use of compressed air to power animatronics.

Must have a creative eye and be able to follow creative directions.

Must have the ability to effectively communicate verbally, including delivering safety instructions/directions, verbal cues, and speaking clearly into microphones and radios.

Must have the ability to effectively communicate nonverbally, including maintaining eye contact and giving/receiving safety hand signals.

Must have the ability to comprehend instructions (verbal, demonstrated, and/or written) and retain information.

Must have the ability to remain alert and vigilant at all times.

Must be comfortable working in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.

Must be able to work well with other teams along with the performers within the attraction. This includes the production, creative, and talent teams.

Have working knowledge of using basic tools safely, and general carpentry experience.

Must have a basic understanding of lighting and sound equipment along with prior experience with atmospheric machines.

Must be able to work a variable schedule with shifts from 2:30PM - 12:00AM.

Must have open availability on the weekends in September, October, and early November.

Physical requirements would include ability to stand (for up to five hours at a time), walk, bend at the waist and knees and have repeated manual dexterity, and the ability to push, pull, and reach above shoulder level, and lifting up to thirty-five (35) without assistance.

Employees are subject to a variety of weather conditions, including but not limited to: extreme heat, sun exposure, cold, and inclement weather. Work is almost exclusively outdoors.
