Overview

CAES is seeking a hands on Senior Manager, Mechanical Engineering that will be responsible for actively managing the Mechanical Engineering team across different projects to ensure that technical, cost and schedule goals are met for development programs and R&D activities. Additional responsibilities include the design, analysis and development of state-of-the-art microwave subsystems for use in high reliability military applications, develop innovative packaging to continue to reduce SWAPC, and provide manufacturing support and the design of tooling to support Operations. This is a hybrid role equally divided between team supervision and individual technical contributor.


Responsibilities

  • Lead for mechanical design including thermal and structural analysis tooling and documentation of high complexity electronic modules, subsystems and programs.
  • Lead for technical portion of proposal efforts, including Basis of Estimates and schedules.
  • Lead, participate in, and facilitate technology investigation, development and insertion, to create innovative solutions for the warfighter.
  • Cultivate a solution oriented, creative perspective in your group, the Engineering department, and site.
  • Support Business Development as a technical Mechanical Engineering SME.
  • Take leadership role in resolving technical issues.
  • Mentor, train and develop Mechanical Engineers to ensure that skilled resources are available to support required Mechanical Engineering and drafting/design tasks.
  • Provide Mechanical Engineering expertise and support to operations and other functions as needed to achieve revenue, profitability, and continuous improvement objectives.
  • Provide overall mechanical expertise on multi-programs and subsystems, including primary interface with customers and coordination of program standards.
  • Create, check and release formal documentation and/or direct design staff to execute task.
  • Work on multidisciplinary teams to develop mechanical layouts and designs for electromechanical systems used in military applications.
  • Ability to perform mechanical analyses, such as thermal, structural, weight and tolerance analysis on hardware to validate designs. Support testing activities to verify design integrity.
  • Ability to generate detailed layout models utilizing SolidWorks and DraftSight, create fabrication drawings and other documentation.
  • Support failure analysis and corrective actions implementation.
  • Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers.
  • Coordinate Mechanical Engineering resources.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME).
  • 10+ years engineering experience in a high-tech industry.
  • 10+ years comprehensive experience with electromechanical packaging with an emphasis on thermal and structural analyses.
  • 10+ years intermediate experience with 3D modeling software (preferably SolidWorks) and a 2D CAD package such as DraftSight or AutoCAD.
  • 10+ years’ experience and solid understanding in the fields of machine design, materials, heat transfer, and vibrations.
  • Experience managing Mechanical Engineering teams.
  • This position requires access to technology, materials, software or hardware that is controlled by US export laws. In order to be eligible for this position, you must be a “US Person” under US export laws (or eligible for approval under a U.S. Government export license).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSEE)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including internal and external presentation skills.

Salary Range: $190,000-$230,000 Annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
