Accountant 1 is an entry-level fiscal position in Children and Youth Service. This position analyzes financial transactions and prepares financial statements and reports to control and account for funds as well as analyze and project financial data. Responsibilities include preparing state and county budgets for Children & Youth and Juvenile Probation departments, posting and sending invoices, assisting with the preparation of general ledger reports, and assisting in preparing forms for the Department of Public Welfare’s annual plans. Accountant 1s also help develop manuals with detailed instructions for carrying out the agency’s fiscal processes for the department and train fiscal technicians. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of professional accounting experience and graduation from a four year college or university, including or supplemented by 15 credits in accounting; or 
  • One year as a Fiscal Technician and 15 college credits in accounting; or 
  • Five years of bookkeeping experience; and 15 college credits in accounting.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Cambria County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cambria County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

 Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening. 
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
