Castle Builders Supply is seeking Concrete Batch Assistants for its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities in Western Pennsylvania. This is the most critical position in the manufacture of concrete and requires individuals with a select skill set.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for producing and batching ready-mix concrete and managing the mixing and loading of concrete mixes according to order specifications for customer delivery.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  1. Batch concrete using computerized equipment that produces accurately calibrated and consistent mix quality
  2. Examine materials, ingredients, or products visually or by hand to ensure conformance to established standards
  3. Report any deviations from the norm that might impact production, quality or processing efficiencies
  4. Check inventory control of raw materials, concrete additives and/or specialized materials and notifies appropriate suppliers of production needs.
  5. Communicate with Dispatch and Transportation departments regarding material delivery Responsible for keeping accurate weight, measure, and billing information to ensure proper crediting to customer.
  6. Responsible for compliance with applicable environmental regulations as it relates to the proper operation of batch plant equipment.
  7. Responsible for daily inspection of facilities and will complete maintenance checklist.
  8. Will operate a front end loader when needed.
  9. Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Educational and experience requirements include: High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to effectively communicate and safely follow directions. Must be detailed oriented and comfortable working with a computer. Must have the ability to work cooperatively as part of a productive team to work safely and independently without constant supervision. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. Knowledge of Command batch system and/or a working knowledge of concrete and admixtures is preferred.

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must have correctable vision with reasonably good night vision. Must be able to lift and carry 50 to 100 lbs. occasionally and /or 25 to 50 lbs. frequently and/or 10 to 20 lbs. constantly to move objects. Requires manual dexterity and ability to bend, twist, turn, stretch, squat, kneel, sit and stand for extended periods. Must be able to work in elevated, enclosed and sometimes hazardous areas in changing weather conditions. Must be able to work varied shifts with extended hours, holidays and/or overtime required
