The Sr. CSA BIM Engineer in Data Center Engineering - Civil, Structural, Architectural Solutions (DCE-CSAS) team has the ability to understand the customer demand as well as the technology & business opportunities that exist in order to lead the organization forward; providing support to engineering team through the preparation of federated BIM models and BIM data. You will influence Data Center design documents with: multi-disciplinary coordination; clash detection and resolution; constructability reviews; building code compliance; design optimization. You will produce coordinated BIM for our Data Center Design Templates.
The Sr. CSA BIM Engineer in DCE-CSAS provides the global vision, rationale and recommendations to leadership teams for next-generation data center BIM standards in data center design and CSA discipline products, while ensuring current models meet the AWS BIM standards.
As a Sr. CSA BIM Engineer in DCE-CSAS, you are a leader and visionary in your field, working within and leading the work of cross-functional teams that include: technical program management, product management, architect, structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, supply chain management, construction, operations, safety and security, and legal. You will participate in external forums/consortiums to understand current trends and developments within the industry. You will be responsible for developing the BIM modeling strategy to execute new data center and product development designs. This role will communicate the technical decisions we make to Senior Management and will drive continuous improvements with our constructability.

- Develop BIM models for new data center design templates and CSA products while ensuring they meet the AWS BIM templates and standards
- Update and modify existing models, studies and construction documents
- Lead design coordination meetings with other trades for clash detection and resolution.
- Assist the project team with information exchange processes between internal and external customers.
- Actively facilitate the escalation of project issues to senior engineering and business leadership.
A day in the life
Amazon has a global presence; therefore 20% to 30% travel will be necessary. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary with short notice. Support could consist of visiting data centers, working on international teams and could require developing schematic and design document packages for data centers and CSA products.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years’ experience designing or building mission critical facilities.
- 5+ years’ experience using Revit, Navisworks for producing BIM and federated models.
- Use of the following software tools: BIM360/ ACC, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla Structures, Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with the BIMForum LOD Specification, plus AIA and NBIMS standards and best practices for BIM collaboration.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of building codes and safety regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field.
- Specialist Diploma in Building Information Modelling with 8+ years’ strong Revit/CAD experience in the area of CSA
- 6+ years' experience designing on mission critical projects & experience of modelling/drawing deliverables for Data Centers or other large facilities (Pharmaceutical, Fabrication Plants, Hospitals, etc.
- Use of the following software tools: Bluebeam, Dynamo, RF Tools, CTC Tools, Synchro, Tableau, AWS Quicksight, PowerBI, SQL
- Experience observing construction, familiar with construction technology, familiar with construction practices and developing custom BIM integrations.
- Practical knowledge and understanding of Data Center designs such as rack placement, power and cooling, raised floors, containment, security.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $128,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
