JOB SUMMARY:
The Program Chair, Master of Science Nurse Practitioner Specialization, is responsible for helping to plan, organize, supervise, and ensure the success of the nurse practitioner program at American Sentinel College. This position includes some teaching responsibilities.
The MSN NP Program Chair is responsible for helping to plan, organize, supervise, evaluate, and ensure the success of the Nurse Practitioner program at American Sentinel College at Post University. This position is instrumental in managing the Nurse Practitioner Specialization. The Program Chair works with the Dean of Nursing and Healthcare Programs and the nursing leadership team. The Program Chair contributes to the advancement of the University’s mission and principles and the goals of the MSN NP program.
Remote Work Requirements:
- This position offers the option to work remotely. Candidates must connect equipment directly to their home router (Post provides a 50-foot ethernet cable; no wireless connections). Minimum internet requirements include 25 Mb download speed, 15 Mb upload speed, and latency below 40 for reliable audio quality. Test your speed at speedtest.net(select Boston, MA–Comcast).
- Candidates are responsible for ensuring their internet meets these standards before the start date. A dedicated, quiet home workspace free from distractions is also required.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Supervise the Nurse Practitioner Specializations to ensure that students and graduates meet the academic program standards and that faculty teaching in these programs provide a good learning experience for students.
- Assess and evaluate the MSN NP program and student outcomes.
- Work with student advising.
- Recruit, mentor, and support MSN NP faculty.
- Monitor Nurse Practitioner students in their program progress.
- Resolve Nurse Practitioner student concerns, as necessary.
- Review and update on a yearly basis all MSN NP documents and handbooks.
- Devise timelines and effective assessment/evaluation measures of the Nurse Practitioner program so there is prompt review, revision, and development of courses within the programs. Delegate course reviews to full-time or adjunct faculty.
- Ensure the MSN NP adheres to best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in nursing and University committees and activities to ensure that the MSN NP meets and exceeds all accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Provides progress reports of curriculum activities and certification preparation/pass rates at faculty and nursing leadership meetings.
- Assists the Dean with budget preparation and management, related to clinical-year instruction and activities.
- Assists the clinical coordinator (CC) in recruiting clinical placement sites and evaluates the appropriateness of clinical placement sites in terms of client population and preceptor capabilities.
- Works with the CC to create, review, revise, and improve the policies and procedures for the clinical experiences of students in the MSN NP programs.
- Devise timelines and effective measures of the MSN NP Program, so there is a prompt review, revision, and development of courses within the programs.
- Review end-of-course evaluations and recommend curricular improvements with faculty and university leadership
- Participate in programmatic, institutional, and regional accreditation activities to ensure the program meets and exceeds all accreditation and regulatory standards.
- Perform other administrative duties, as needed.
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
Doctoral Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university; must have a master’s degree in nursing; must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner in the area of Family, Adult/Geriatric Primary Care, or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; extensive clinical nursing experience; experience teaching in an online environment; experience in an administrative role in an academic setting.
