Duties: Participate in the design, development, implementation, testing and documentation of embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using Java, JavaScript, and Object-Oriented Design. Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Participate in the full development cycle end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software products and tools. Mentor junior development engineers. Own key components within the Audible Content Value Chain by envisioning, designing, creating, building, and supporting software development efforts. Stay up to date with software tools, trends, technologies, and frameworks both industry-wide and within the organization. Partner with product management to imagine, design, develop, test, and launch software. Manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables. Adopt best practices in software engineering, including design, testing, version control, documentation, build, deployment, and operations. Build customer facing UIs and migrate a design system for Audible’s Content Management Systems. Contribute to the overall front-end architecture and technical strategy within our platform: envisioning, designing, creating, and supporting our solutions that operate with a high degree of operational excellence. Draw inspiration from the tools, trends, technologies, and frameworks both industry-wide and within the organization and apply these in a meaningful way within our software. Collaborate to deliver the best technology solution, responsible for front-end system design and support and mentoring of our developers. Position reports into Newark, NJ office; however, telecommuting from a home office may be allowed.

Requirements: Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field plus one (1) year of experience as a Front-End Engineer, Software Engineer, or a related occupation involving experience in software development.

Experience may be gained concurrently and must include one (1) year in each of the following:
- Researching and designing user experiences using tools such as Figma, Adobe Photoshop, or other design tools
- Designing and developing distributed, multi-tier web applications using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Java, APIs, Object-Oriented Design, or Frameworks
- Full stack development and consuming RESTful services
- UI development using JavaScript, Typescript, Angular, or React
- Agile software development
- Web components and design system development
- Building large scale service and web applications in AWS or other cloud-based environments
- Working with cross-platform development, data structures, microservices, CI/CD, or large-scale data modeling and processing
- Using AWS technologies at scale in a production environment including AWS API Gateway, AWS CDK, AWS CloudFormation, AWS DynamoDB, AWS S3, AWS Lambda, and AWS CloudWatch
- Preparing software documentation, conducting unit testing, and performing code reviews, test automation, continuous integration and deployment
- Applying knowledge of dependency injection, operations/promises, and modular development.

Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience.
