The primary role of this position is to tell the story of our resort offerings by managing media relations efforts for The Official Resorts of Hersheypark, and Dining In Hershey brands. The role will oversee all Resorts and Dining-related press outreach and influencers while supporting communications and content needs across the destination. We’re looking for a strong writer passionate about media relations with a demonstrated track record of crafting pitches that lead to relevant placements.

Job Functions (Items marked with an asterisk are essential functions of this position):

Manage traditional media relations efforts for The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge, Hersheypark Camping Resort and Dining In Hershey brands through working with Resorts and Dining teams for press materials development, mining story ideas, pitching media about relevant news from each property, organizing events, reporter/blogger visits, media queries, etc.*

Leverage storytelling and content strategy to showcase the resort brands.

Research robust list of media contacts and continually foster strong relationships with key outlets and new press targets. Identify opportunities to increase media reach and organic awareness.*

Lead influencer marketing for Resort brands, planning visits and coordinating with stakeholders to showcase the Official Resorts of Hersheypark.

Assist with strategy for Resorts’ social media channels by creating content and maintaining engagement efforts.*

Serve as editor of the destination blog and assist in writing round-up stories.

Promote Hershey The Sweetest Place On Earth as a destination to all media contacts.*

Assist with vetting and supporting the Sweet Insiders ambassador program.

Develop creative PR plans for the Resorts and Dining brands and work in collaboration with the Resorts Marketing team on key initiatives and campaigns.*

Serve as support to the Content Specialist promoting The Spa At The Hotel Hershey, MeltSpa by Hershey, and Hershey Meetings communications efforts, as needed.*

Support team on planning and execution of destination initiatives.*

Serve as HE&R’s Resort and Dining properties representative at relevant industry events and conferences, and attend relevant staff/departmental meetings. Train/prepare Resorts and Dining spokespersons/executives for media interviews, events, and appearances, as necessary.*

Develop expertise in Resorts and Dining brands as well as the Lodging and F&B industries to provide key insights to reporters, influencers, and guests about the properties.*

Basic Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of related experience.

18 years of age or older.

Must have a valid Drivers' License

Bachelor’s degree - Communications, Marketing, English, Public Relations
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Pitching experience required.

Proficient working with details on a daily basis for prolonged periods of time.

Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word.

Experienced in working with key executives and operations team members. Must be a strong writer and eager to pitch media outlets about Hershey. Must be a team player and willing to learn and use social media channels to reach targeted audiences. Must become an expert in The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge, Hersheypark Camping Resort and Dining In Hershey brands.
