The Supply Chain Planning Optimization (SCPO) team is seeking a passionate and versatile Data Scientist to help shape the future of supply chain intelligence. In this role, you’ll uncover impactful insights, develop interpretable and scalable models, and collaborate closely with both business and technical stakeholders to drive high-stakes decisions across our EU and North American fulfillment networks. Together, we're building a next-generation automated planning system—a powerful engine designed to transform inbound operations through intelligent, data-driven automation.

Key job responsibilities
Partner directly with business leaders, operations teams, and product managers to identify opportunities, understand pain points, and translate them into data science problems

Design and implement interpretable probabilistic models to forecast customer demand, supply availability, and network flows under uncertainty

Deliver insights and recommendations through dashboards, visualizations, and presentations that influence key business decisions

Develop and maintain explainable ML/Statistical models, ensuring stakeholders can understand, trust, and take action based on model outputs

Create prototypes, run pilots, gather feedback, and iterate models to align with real-world operations and stakeholder goals

Lead and contribute to ad-hoc deep dives to investigate anomalies or emerging patterns in the supply chain

Collaborate with engineering and science teams to productionize models and scale insights across regions and business lines

Stay current on best practices in machine learning, statistics, and data science, and advocate for the right tools and methodologies

About the team
SCPO is responsible for optimizing Amazon’s supply chain from suppliers to customers. We build analytical tools and machine learning models to improve supply chain performance across forecasting, inventory planning, and network execution. Our team is at the intersection of science, technology, and operations, collaborating with Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT), Transportation, Retail, Finance, and senior business leaders to improve both day-to-day decisions and long-term strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 5+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience
- 4+ years of data scientist experience
- Experience with statistical models e.g. multinomial logistic regression
- Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- Knowledge of AWS tech stack (e.g., AWS Redshift, S3, EC2, Glue)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 2+ years of data visualization using AWS QuickSight, Tableau, R Shiny, etc. experience
- Experience managing data pipelines
- Experience as a leader and mentor on a data science team

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $247,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
