Part-Time Military Veteran Program Coordinator
Who We Are:
The IM ABLE Foundation is a nonprofit organization that has been a leader in the inclusive adaptive fitness industry for over 18 years. Our mission is to remove obstacles that prevent people with disabilities from leading active lives through fitness, recreation, and community engagement. We are expanding our Operation Lead From the Front (OLFTF) Veteran Program and are seeking a dedicated Military Veteran with Program Coordination experience to lead and grow this initiative.
About the Program – Operation: Lead From the Front (OLFTF)
OLFTF is a transformative program that empowers veterans with disabilities to rediscover their sense of purpose and community through fitness-based activities. The program creates an inclusive and supportive environment where veterans face physical and mental challenges, fostering trust, camaraderie, and personal growth.
The program offers free adaptive sports training, group fitness, individual and team competitive and recreational events, rehabilitation, and community-building programs designed to help disabled veterans rebuild their strength, independence, and resilience.
Position Overview:
The Veteran Program Coordinator will lead and develop Operation Lead from the Front, overseeing day-to-day program activities, coordinating veteran volunteers, and fostering strong community engagement to expand and strengthen the program. This role is expected to grow as the OLFTF program expands.
This is an exciting opportunity for a veteran to make a direct impact by creating meaningful opportunities for other veterans to engage in adaptive fitness and recreational activities while assisting individuals with disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership & Coordination – Manage daily operations, ensuring all activities align with the program’s mission
- Veteran Engagement & Community Outreach – Actively recruit, engage, and support veteran volunteers through partnerships with military organizations and local veteran communities
- Program Development – Work with the IM ABLE Program Director and team to develop new and engaging fitness activities tailored to the needs of veterans with disabilities
- Activity Facilitation – Lead or assist adaptive fitness and recreational sessions, providing hands-on encouragement and support to participants
- Volunteer Management – Coordinate and oversee veteran volunteers, ensuring they are actively involved in supporting program initiatives
- Reporting & Administration – Submit a bi-weekly timesheet outlining program activities for foundation reporting requirements
- Program Growth Strategy – Identify opportunities to expand and enhance the OLFTF program based on community needs and participant feedback
Basic Qualifications:
- Military Veteran (Required)
- Passion for Adaptive Fitness – A strong commitment to inclusive recreational activities for individuals with disabilities
- Strong Communication & Leadership Skills – Ability to motivate, support, and inspire fellow veterans
- Experience in Program Coordination or leading community initiatives
- Current CPR/AED Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
- Adaptive Fitness Certification (or ability to become certified within 6 months).
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Basic knowledge of nutrition, healthy living, and exercise equipment.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with adaptive fitness or rehabilitation programs
- Experience in volunteer recruitment and engagement
- Prior involvement in veteran service organizations or nonprofit initiatives
Compensation & Commitment:
- $20.00 – $27.00 per hour
- Part-time, hourly position
- Between 10 to 20 hours per week to start
- Location: Hybrid- work from home, on-site at our gym in Wyomissing, PA. and at activity locations
