Description Are you an innovative agricultural sciences professional who possesses a passion for educating others?  Join the Department of Education as an Agriculture Education Advisor where you can lead and direct statewide efforts to develop, improve, and expand career and technical education programs that fall within the agriculture cluster.  The position provides statewide leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of high-quality Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, with a primary focus on agricultural education.  As the lead specialist, the individual will support a skilled workforce through quality educational programming by collaborating with educators, administrators, industry partners, and state agencies.

As an Agriculture Education Advisor, you will serve as the lead worker regarding statewide development, maintenance, and implementation of Career and Technical programs for agriculture.  Key responsibilities include guiding the development of policy and best practices for agricultural education, supporting teacher preparation and certification programs, and promoting alignment with state and national standards.  The role also involves conducting research and analysis, evaluating program effectiveness, and leading professional development efforts across the state.  The successful candidate will represent agricultural education interests in meetings, workshops, and professional organizations; support student leadership organizations such as FFA and PYFA; interpret and implement state and federal CTE regulations; and contribute to state plans, grant reviews, and monitoring activities.  Strong communication and collaboration skills, along with the ability to use technology for outreach and program delivery, are essential.  This position plays a critical role in ensuring that Pennsylvania’s agricultural education programs prepare students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in a dynamic and evolving industry.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, however you must report to the office every Wednesday.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.  If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Specialized Career and Technical Education Advisor 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) in the same parenthetical; or
  • Five years of professional career and technical education experience in the area of the parenthetical, including two years in the development and implementation of specialized career and technical education curricula or programs; or
  • An equivalent combination of professional career and technical education experience and training in the area of the parenthetical, which includes two years in the development and implementation of specialized career and technical education curricula or programs.


Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires applicants to possess a minimum of two years of full-time professional career and technical education experience in a 9-12 or postsecondary trade and industrial education environment.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements: 

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
