MITER Brands also known as Milgard and MI Windows & Doors, is one of the nation’s largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country. We are currently looking for a Senior Materials Manager for the South West region. In this role you will provide effective leadership of regional purchasing, planning, and inventory control activities and proper analysis of related data to multiple manufacturing locations.

Location: We will consider anyone in Temecula, CA - Simi Valley, CA - Prescott Valley, AZ areas

Pay Range: 117k - 146k, depending upon experience


  • Optimizes availability vs. cash flow, movement, and usage of materials through effective management of the site SCM (Supply Chain Management) teams across the assigned region
  • Supervises site Materials Managers within a designated region, assists in management of inventory control managers and receiving/handling supervisors and buyer/planners as necessary
  • Effectively interfaces with MITER Production Management, Quality Control Management, Continuous Improvement Management IT Management and Engineering organizations to coordinate cross-functional efforts supporting regional SCM objectives
  • Escalation point for plant leadership & operations leadership for materials management issues
  • Reviews strategic initiatives with plant & operations leadership (both materials management and operations projects, to understand impacts both ways and collaboration opportunities)
  • Analyzes data related to regional SCM activity and prepares management reports as directed
  • Implements and drives compliance to all company SCM strategies and policies to assure consistent application across the assigned region in the following ares:
    • Safety policies
    • Cycle count process
    • Purchasing/buying strategies
    • Flow within and out of plant, etc.
  • Leads regional effort to manage demand related data via participation in sales & operations planning (S&OP) processes, reviewing usage and ordering patterns
  • Leads the regional SCM team to develop, monitor and report on relevant metrics which reduce the total cost of ownership (TCO) relative to all direct materials, MRO, scrap materials and supplies
  • Balance x-plant priorities/flow
  • Coordinates regional SCM activities with those of other MITER sites as needed to drive best practices and efficiencies
  • Assist Corporate SCM in the negotiation and/or maintenance of national supply agreements
  • Develop succession plans and talent plans to drive continuity and advancement of team
  • Participates in / leads continuous improvement efforts for materials management (Kaizen events, etc.)
  • Works with Engineering, Quality, Production on BOM Accuracy and BOM Audits
  • Helps drive and prioritize, IT/Systems improvement opportunities
  • Coordinates with product management, engineering, strategic sourcing on product launches and discontinuances, champions rationalization and standardization of components with these teams
  • Elevates plant needs for escalation with strategic sourcing, quality or other functions
  • Reviews, evaluates and champions investment needs around racking, vehicles, other materials management capital
  • Ensures succession planning and developmental opportunities for plants under their control

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BA in Business Management or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position
  • APICS/ASCM or ISM Certification preferred
  • Knowledge and ability to deploy APICS, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, and Lean Manufacturing concepts
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, problem solving and computer skills
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively motivate team members and others with diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Software (particularly excel) and Oracle or other operating systems as required
  • Five to ten years materials management experience in a manufacturing facility, multi-site experience a plus
