What you will do
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on the development of stationary Battery Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
In this important position within our growing organization, you will play a critical role in coordinating the BESS work in North America and liaising with colleagues in the Volvo Energy team in Europe and India. You will be a key contact point on BESS for our North America partners and suppliers.
- System Design and Development: Lead the design and development of stationary Battery ESS, ensuring integration with existing systems and compliance with industry standards.
- Requirements Analysis: Analyze system requirements and develop detailed specifications for battery systems, including performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Project Management: Oversee project timelines, deliverables, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Testing and Validation: Develop and implement testing protocols to validate system performance, reliability, and safety.
- Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system designs, specifications, and testing procedures.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other team members.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for system improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.
Who are you?
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering, particularly in the field of battery technology and energy storage solutions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: At least 8 years of experience in product design and development, with a focus on battery systems and energy storage solutions.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in system design tools, simulation software, and testing equipment. Strong understanding of battery chemistry, thermal management, and safety protocols.
- Project Management: Proven experience in managing complex projects, with excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-voltage battery systems and energy storage applications.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements for battery systems.
- Familiarity with software development and control systems for battery management.
